Abstract

Land suitability affects the quality of a watershed. Accoding to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry strategic planning on 2015-2019, Siak watersheld is critical watershed that prone of flood and landslide, pollution, erosion and siltation. One of the causes of this problem is the landuse is not suitable with landuse direction. Until now, the land suitability of the Siak watershed has not been identified. Therefore, research is needed to determine the land suitability in Siak Watershed. Siak watershed has several sub-watersheds, there are Sail dan Mempura Besar watershed. The aim of this study is to compare land suitability in Sail and Mempura Besar watershed. The analysis used in this research is spatial analysis by overlapping map of rainfall map, slope and Soil to get landuse direction map. Then landuse direction maps are overlaid with landuse maps, so that land suitability maps in each region are obtained. After that, a descriptive analysis is caried out to compare land suitabiliy in this two watershed area. The results show that Sail watershed is cultivation area and the landuse is suitable with its land direction. Likewise with Mempura Besar watershed, the land direction is cultivation area and the landuse is suitable with its land direction. Based on the comparison of this two watershed, the Sail watershed that located in urban areas has characteristics based on the detailed of cultivated landuse that has various uses, while the Mempura Besar watershed that located ini rural areas has characteristics based on the detailed of cultivated landuse that has similar uses.
