Abstract

This study aims to determine the performance of the Randai group "Senandung Duo Nagori" (Randai Batino) in Cerenti District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. The formulation of the problem is "How is the Randai performance in the Randai Group" Senandung Duo Nagori "(Randai Batino) in Cerenti District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. The theory used in this research is Edy Sedyawati (1981: 41) about the elements in the performing arts, namely the story, the actor or the performer, the stage or the place, the audience. And Chairul Harun's theory (1991: 72) regarding the characteristics of Randai, namely story (Kaba), dialogue, singing (dendang), motion, dramatic value, musical instruments, audience, performances, and length of performances. This research methodology is a descriptive method with qualitative data. The data collection techniques used in this study were non-participant observation, interviews, and documentation. The Randai performance "Senandung Duo Nagori" (Randai Batino) in Cerenti Subdistrict, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province, originates from Randai Kuantan which is based on Randai from Minangkabau. The results of this study indicate that: 1) Randai performance "Senandung Duo Nagori" (Randai Batino) in Cerenti District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province, namely: a) story presentation (kaba). b) dialogue. c) singing (chanting). e) motion. f) dramatic value. g) comic or joke atmosphere. h) musical instruments. i) audience. j) staging. k) length of show time. As well as the uniqueness of the Randai group "Senandung Duo Nagori" (Randai Batino) is that the actors use the female role, if a male role is needed then women will replace the male role.
