Abstract

The Tribune Pekanbaru newspaper is a regional newspaper under PT. Riau Grafika, a subsidiary of the Kompas Gramedia group. The print media in Indonesia has a good impact and makes it easier for people to get information practically and effectively by keeping abreast of the times. Everyone will always need mass media to get information about events around them. Meanwhile, in the editorial there are still errors in language, namely the level of syntax, especially the fields of phrases and sentences. The problems in this study are (1) How is the syntactic language error of the phrase field level in the news plan of the Pekanbaru Tribune newspaper? The purpose of this study is (1) To find out the error of phrases in the news plan of the Tribune Pekanbaru newspaper, (2) To find out the sentence errors in the news of the Pekanbaru Tribun newspaper. The theory used in this research is Setyawati's (2010) theory. The method used in this research is the Content Analysis method. The data source in this study is the newspaper Tribun Pekanbaru edition 1 to 31 January 2019. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. This type of research is library research. Analysis of syntactic language level errors in the field of phrases in the editorial plan of the Tribune Pekanbaru newspaper, there are 4 errors, namely excessive use of elements or redundant, the influence of local languages, improper wording, and the use of improper prepositions. Analysis of syntactic language errors at the sentence field level in the editorial of the newspaper Tribune Pekanbaru, there are 3 errors, namely illogical sentences, the use of foreign terms, and non-subject sentences and no predicate (stubby sentences).
