Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cooperative learning model type Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI) to student’s problem solving ability on mathematic in class VIII SMPN 2 Tembilahan in academic year 2018/2019. This type of research is quasi experimental research (quasi eksperiment) with non equivalent control group design which uses purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques was done by using the techniques of test. The population is the whole VIII class SMPN 2 Tembilahan consisting of 4 classes. Sample of the research is class VIII1 given as experimental treatment using cooperative learning model type Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI) and VIII4 class as a class control using conventional learning. Data obtained from the results of the research in the form of pretest and posttest data were analyzed using description analysis and inferential analysis. The data obtained using the t test shows a difference between the problem solving ability on mathematic of the experimental class student’s and the problem solving ability on mathematic of the control class.
