Abstract

This research is entitled "Code Transfer in Students' Speeches with Students in SMP Negeri 2 Ujungbatu, Rokan Hulu Regency". The problem examined in this study is how is the cause of code switching contained in the speech of students with students in SMP Negeri 2 Ujungbatu, Rokan Hulu Regency? The purpose of this research is to describe, analyze, and interpret the code switching contained in the speech of students with students in Negeri 2 Ujungbatu Middle School, Rokan Hulu Regency. The theory that the author uses to examine this research is the theory of Abdul Chaer and Leonie Agustina (2010), Kunjana Rahardi (2010) and other supporting theories related to research. The data in this study are 10 speeches of students with students containing code switching. The method used is descriptive method with data collection techniques using observation, note taking, and recording techniques. The results of this study indicate (1) the function of code switching that occurs between students and students in SMP Negeri 2 Ujungbatu, Rokan Hulu Regency, there are six code switching functions, these functions are: Confirm Function, Explain Function, Notify Function, Asking Function, Offer Function, Function for a sense of familiarity. Of the six functions the function that is widely used by students is the notify function and the least used by students is the offer function. (2) Factors causing the occurrence of code switching that occurs between students and students in SMP Negeri 2 Ujungbatu, Rokan Hulu Regency, there are three factors causing the occurrence of code switching, these factors are: Speakers or Speech Factors, Listener Factors or Speech Speakers, Factors The presence of a third person.
