Abstract

This research is entitled "Criminal News Analysis Based on Elements 5W + 1H in Tribun Pekanbaru Edition Newspaper October 1 - November 30 2018 ". The research problem is how to apply the 5W + 1H element to news writing in criminal rubrics in Tribun Pekanbaru newspaper 01 edition October - 30 November 2018. This study aims to collect information and data about the application of the 5W + 1H element to the inside news writing criminal rubric at Tribun Pekanbaru Edition newspaper October 1 -30 November 2018. The theory used is the formula 5W + 1H in the book Panggabean in 2013. The data sources and data of this research are criminal news and all criminal information contained in the Pekanbaru Tribun newspaper related to the 5W + 1H element. This research method is a method content analysis or content analysis, type of research, namely literature, and the research approach is documentation and hermeneutics. The results of this study that is : (1) the formula of what is related to the topic of news concerning a events or events, have been applied to all the news that became data this research; (2) formula who is related to the news source that refers to individuals, groups, or institutions have been applied to all the news become the data of this research; (3) where formula relates to the place of occurrence events or news. In this study there was one news that did not apply where formula in it; (4) the formula relating to the time of the event, already applied to all the news that is the data of this research; (5 ) formula why is it related to the purpose of fulfilling the readers' curiosity about the cause of an event has been applied to all the news become the data of this research; (6) and how the formula relates to the method or process about events that have already been applied to all the news that has become data of this study. So, the news in the Pekanbaru Tribun newspaper became this research data is still one news that has not been correct in applying the formula news 5W + 1H, so the quality of the news does not meet the writing standards news.
