Abstract

The natural potential of Bengkalis Regency which is still quite good, peat swamp forests, beaches and small islands as well as the potential of indigenous Malay tribes are the main attractions for visitors, one of which is the tourist attraction of North Rupat Beach. The tourism potential of Rupat Island is not only close to the Straits of Malacca and Malaysia, which is used as a shipping route, but also in the form of white sand beaches and mangrove areas, forest reserves and natural beaches, but the existing potential has not been fully managed and utilized. Besides that, almost all facilities and infrastructure in the tourist attraction of North Rupat Island are in a state of damage, this can result in a reduction in the attractiveness of the community to visit these attractions. As for the purpose of this study is to determine the strategy of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports of Bengkalis Regency in the Development of North Rupat Island Beach Tourism Objects. The type of research in the study is included in the descriptive survey type using quantitative methods. The results showed that the strategy of the Bengkalis Regency Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports Department in the Development of North Rupat Island Beach Tourism Objects is quite good. This means that from the five indicators that the author has determined, not all of them have been maximally implemented, especially indicators of tourist attraction and tourist attraction facilities. This is because the North Rupat Island Beach tourist attraction does not have a good attraction, so this tourist attraction is still empty of visitors even though this tourist attraction has great potential besides that this tourist attraction is not supported by adequate tourist attraction facilities to attract visitors visitors who come to the North Rupat Island Beach attractions do not get a good impression of these attractions.
