Abstract

Interpersonal communication is the communication which can be intertwined between communicator and the interlocutor either one person or more until obtaining the meaning of the message delivered and message return occurs. When entering The House of Social Rehabilitation For Kids Who Needs Special Protection (BRSAMPK) the beneficiaries must be ready to run the determined activities. Based on observations, the researcher found that there were beneficiaries who were already in the dormitory but refused to participate in religious activities, steal a friend’s equipment and there was a fight in the dormitory. The purpose of this research is to know and analyze the interpersonal communication of social worker with the beneficiaries. This research use qualitative research approach. The research subjects were the social workers in each social guidance and the beneficiaries who experience problems in the dormitory. The technique of data collections were interview, observation, and documentation. The technique of data check the validity of this research show is to use the triangulation method. The results of this research show that interpersonal communication of social workers with beneficiaries at the House of Social Rehabilitation for Kids Who Needs Special Protection (BRSAMPK) by giving advice, exploring the problems of beneficiaries before being in the hastel or while undergoing a period of guidance, giving empathy by verbal and nonverbal, give gifts to beneficiaries who do good, and provide sanctions to beneficiaries who break the rules. Verbal communication carried out by social workers in the form of giving advice directly to beneficiaries who break the rules. Nonverbal communication is carried out by giving eye contact, expressions, applause, smiles, thumbs, and embracing.
