Abstract

Public transportation as part of the urban transportation system has a role to support the mobilization of urban communities in carrying out daily activities. Public transportation also plays a very important and strategic role in the development and development of cities in the economic sector, socio-cultural sector, and the education sector. Therefore, the existence of public transport must be handled properly and correctly so that it does not cause problems for city life. The purpose of this study is to analyze and explain the supervision by the Transportation Agency of the City of Pekanbaru in controlling public transportation in the city of Pekanbaru and its obstacles. The method used is descriptive and qualitative methods; The informants in this study were the Head of the Transport Sector, the Oversight of the Transport Sector and the Oplet City Transport Driver Team. Technique of collecting interview data, observation and documentation. This study concludes that the supervision of public transport vehicles in the public roads of Pekanbaru City is not optimal, where the results of the assessment actions have not achieved the expected results, such as there are still many public transport vehicles violating road routes, and vehicles that do not comply with road use obligations. vehicle. The corrective action by applying sanctions for users / holders of public transport vehicle licenses, implementing supervision has not been firm against violators of the obedience / obligation of vehicle users. The factors that influence the effectiveness of controlling public transportation in the city of Pekanbaru are three, namely limited human resources, funding and driver awareness. Factors that become a barrier to the control process carried out by the Pekanbaru Police Satlantas with the Transportation Department are human resources that are not sufficient to carry out supervision, so that control is difficult to do. There is no special budget for controlling, so that control is not running optimally. And the lack of driver awareness of traffic rules is an obstacle in realizing traffic orderly conditions.
