Abstract

This reseach was motivated by problems that happened such cruel actions that stemed by radicalism happened in society especially in education field. Radicalism is one of concept from students because it is really apposite to Islamic religion and do not appropriate to the aim of Islamic religion itself. Therefore, counteracting radicalism at school, Islamic religion teacher is one of parties which have saved and responsible in counteracting radicalism to students. The formulation of problems in this reseach was How is the role of Islamic Religion Teacher in counteracting radicalism to students at SMAN 3 Siak Hulu Kampar Regency. The purpose of this reseach was to find out the role of Islamic Religion Teacher in counteracting radicalism to students at SMAN 3 Siak Hulu Kampar Regency. This reseach was descriptive qualitative reseach with the aim to describe the facts about the role of Islamic religion teacher in counteracting radicalism to students. This reseach was conducted in December 2018 till March 2019 at SMAN 3 Siak Hulu Kampar Regency. Subjects in this reseach were Islamic religion teachers, headmaster and some students at SMAN 3 Siak Hulu. In collecting the data, it used observation, documentation and interview to Islamic religion teachers, headmaster and some students to learn and then arranged in to pattern, which was important and have to be learnt then make the conclusion in order to easier in understanding both for themselves or others. Based on the obtaining and analyzing the data, it concluded that the role of Islamic religion teacher in counteracting radicalism to students at SMAN 3 Siak Hulu Kampar Regency included some aspects such as teachers as eduacators gave the understanding about what the radicalism is and the dangerous of radicalism without overulling teach love to homeland. Islamic religion teachers will be figure in tolerance and living harmoniously. Then, they also observed Rohis activity and conducted religious adjacent activity.
