Abstract
The purpose of this research is to know and analyze the effect of leverage and capital intensity on profitability in basic industrial sector companies and chemicals listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This study uses secondary data, namely annual financial reports on companies in the basic industry and chemical sector for the period 2015-2019. The sampling method was purposive sampling with a sample size 0f 22 companies. The results showed that simultaneously the leverage variable (DAR) and capital intensity had a significant effect on profitability (ROA). While partially, the leverage variable (DAR) has a negative and significant effect on profitability (ROA), and the capital intensity variable has a positive and significant effect on profitability (ROA).
