Abstract
This research was conducted with the aim to increase the results of cognitive science study of biology at class VIII SMP Widya Graha Pekanbaru in the academic year 2016/2017 by implementing cooperative learning Jigsaw II. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) that was conducted in September 2016 to Oktober 2016. The subjects were all students of SMP Widya Graha Pekanbaru VIII class totaling 20 students consisting of 10 male students and of 10 famale students. Data analysis technique used is quantitative. The processed data is the cognitive learning. Descriptive analysis of the cognitive achievement of students was done 2 cycles. Cognitive learning outcomes before the CAR was 78,15%, after CAR at the first cycle of the students absorption is 82,53% increased 4,35% from the prior CAR. In the second cycle of the students absorption was 86,98% increased 4,45% from cycle I. The completeness of classical cognitive value before CAR is 50%, the first cycle 90% increase 40% from the prior CAR and the second cycle 100% increased 10% of the first cycle. It can be concluded that the implementation of cooperative learning Jigsaw type II can improve cognitive achievement Biology students at Class VIII SMP Widya Graha Pekanbaru academic year 2016/2017.
