Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of difficulty of students in science learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 school year Koto Gasib 2017/2018. This study is a descriptive study using quantitative and qualitativeapproaches. Techniques used in data collection are questionnaires, interviews and observation. The research was conducted on April 28 to May 4, 2018. The population in this research is class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Koto Gasib with a sampling technique used is the technique of random sampling so that the sample in the study were 75 students. The results showed that in general the students in class VIII SMPN 1 Koto Gasib have difficulty learning science / biology derived from internal factors, namely Psychological aspects of 68.30% and external factors, namely, Family environmental aspects of 76.62%; Aspects of the school environment by 84.95%; Environmental aspects of society by 73.51%. From the results of this study can be concluded that the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Koto Gasib academic year 2017/2018 have student learning difficulties in the high category with the percentage of 76.60. The highest aspect is in the aspect of the school environment with the percentage of 84.95%, while the lowest aspect of student learning difficulties is in the psychological aspect with the percentage of 68.30%.
