Abstract
The purpose of this study is to improve the cognitive learning outcomes of Biology students of grade VII.4 SMAN 1 Pantai Raja Kabupaten Kampar academic year 2016/2017 by applying cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together (NHT) and using image media. The subjects of the study were students of grade VII.4 SMPN 1 Pantai Raja Kabupaten Kampar academic year 2016/2017 with total 24 people, consist of 14 male students and 10 female students. The average student in grade VII.4 SMPN 1 Pantai Raja Kampar District has not reached the KKM established by the school (category 75). The results showed that there was an increase of students' cognitive learning outcomes after treatment with cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together (NHT). Before PTK students absorbance value for cognitive value obtained by 37.5%, after Cycle I obtained by 79.17%, and in cycle II was obtained at 87.5%. Based on the result of research, it can be concluded that the application of cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together (NHT) using pictorial media can improve cognitive learning outcomes of Biology of students of class VII.4 SMPN 1 Pantai Raja Kabupaten Kampar academic year 2016/2017. Therefore, Biology teachers can apply cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together (NHT) in Biology learning to improve students' cognitive learning outcomes.
