Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the factors that influence in integration of Information and Communication Technology in English Senior High School in Pekanbaru. This research focused on teacher’s problem. The researcher used qualitative approach which was case study. The participant of this research was English teachers at Senior High School in Kecamatan Marpoyan Damai, Kota Pekanbaru. The sample of this research was used purposive sampling and there were 14 English teachers as the samples. The instruments of the research were questionnaires and interview. The data were analyzed by categorize the data based on the indicators, describe the data and make a conclusion. From the result, younger English teachers were more ready to use ICT in prepare the material and also use it in teaching and learning process than older teacher. There was no relationship between gender and ICT integration. Similar findings were also for the level of education. The number of teaching experiences also did not influence the use of ICT. The most of respondents have not been received the training in ICT. The most of respondents said that the facilities of ICT did not provided enough. Next, the English teachers have positive attitude toward the use of ICT. Last, teacher’s workload did not influence the integration of ICT. Even though the English teachers have heavy job per week, but they still prepare the material using of ICT before they teach. In conclusion, the researcher found that the gender, level of education, teaching experience, teacher’s workload, could not be the factors to measure the integration of ICT. On the other hands, the proper training, facilities of ICT, and teacher’s attitudes are the factors that influenced the integration of ICT.
