Abstract

The objective of the research is to know the most common grammatical errors made by the second grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Rambah. In this research, the researcher used Dulay, Burt and Krashen’s theory of errors to analyze students’ errors in writing narrative text. The researcher want to know what errors were mostly made by the students in grammar. The population of this research is the second year students of SMA MuhammadiyahRambah, which divided into two classes and it consist of 41 students. In this research, the researcher used purposive sampling to obtain the sample.The sample of this research is XI IPA in academic year of 2017/2018 of SMA Muhammadiyah Rambah which consists of 20 students. The method used in this research was a case study included as qualitative research. The result of the research showed that there are 828 errors made by the students. The first type of error that students made is Misordering with the total of error 40 errors. The second type of error that students made is Addition with the total of error 161 errors. The third type of error that students made is Omission with the total of error 243 errors. And the most common error that students made in narrative text writing is Misinformation with the total of error 384 errors.
