Abstract

Part of speech is the categories of word or kinds of words. In English, there are eight parts of speech. They are nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, conjunctions prepositions, interjections, and articles. In writing the text, the writer cannot be separated from the words categories. The aimed of this research is to know the error of part of speech that found in writing descriptive text. The methodology of this research is qualitative research. The sources of the data were the first year students at MTs Masmur Pekanbaru. This research focused on writing descriptive text. The researcher analysed the students’ error in writing descriptive text. The researcher focused on students’ error in part of speech in writing the text. Based on the research finding and the interpretation data in the previous chapter, the researcher concluded some conclusions as follows; there are three kinds of the students’ error after analysed the students’ paper. First, the students had error in using pronoun with 62, 50%. Second, the students had error in using verb. The percentage was 6%.Last, the students get error in writing preposition the percentage of students’ error was 13%.
