Abstract

n the reading habits, there were some features which used by the reader in reading activity. Some features that are often used were such Attitude Towards Reading, Book Read, Frequency Reading, Time Spent on Reading Habit, and Motivation on Reading Habit. Mostly people seldom to read a book except need an information or just read an important part. Meanwhile, reading habit must be applied in real life. Therefore, the researcher regarded reading habits proposed by J. Caesar, to know and describe how people reading habits especially the students in vocational This research was descriptive qualitative. The researcher has chosen the vocational schools as the object. There are 56 students of three vocational schools around Marpoyan Sub-district. Then, the data obtained were analyzed based on J. Caesar’s concept which consists of Attitude Towards Reading, Book Read, Frequency Reading, Time Spent on Reading Habit, and Motivation on Reading Habit. Based on the data interpretation, there were 54 questions in the questionnaire. Then, there were 56 samples of three vocational schools especially accounting major at the first grade of each school. Finally, the researcher got the result that reading habits still low in teenager especially vocational school. Based on the concept of J. Caesar reading habits also got the influent from many aspects such family, environment and life style.
