Abstract

Most of the students consider writing was difficult skill than others skill. Writing is an activity of expressing messages, ideas, and information in written form. The aim of this research was to find out types of errors in descriptive text made by first year class students of SMK Taruna Masmur Pekanbaru, and to find out the dominat types that made by students in writing descriptive text. The design of this research was qualitative research. This research only described and analysed the types of error in writing descriptive text. The instrument used in this research was writing test. Writing text used by the researcher is to get information about result of types of error and dominant errors on writing descriptive text at first year class of SMK Taruna Masmur Pekanbaru. The result of this research showed that first year class students at SMK Taruna Masmur Pekanbaru still made some errors from students’ writing text. There were nine types of erros that made by students; singular-plural, word form, verb tense, punctuation, word choice, addition, spelling, word order, and omission. The dominant types error made by students were singular-plural and word choice.
