Abstract

The transition from high school to higher education with a higher educational capacity and the demand to manage oneself can be surprising for some new students. The problem imposes a trust in yourself in carrying out an action when facing a difficult situation in a student's effort to get results that are as expected. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and self-efficacy in new students. This study involved 71 students of the Psychology Faculty of Riau Islamic University who were selected using random sampling. Data collection techniques use two scales, namely social support and self-efficacy. Data analysis method in this study uses product moment correlation analysis. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between social support and self-efficacy in new students with a correlation value of 0.623 with a value (p) 0,000 (p <0.01). This result shows there is a significant correlation with the positive relationship between social support and efficacy yourself to new students. Can be interpreted the higher the social support, the higher the selfefficacy.
