Abstract

he value of well-mannered interaction is one of the identities of Melayu culture that revealed in the Tunjuk Ajar Melayu, but the value of well-mannered interaction has not become an empirical concept so it is difficult to be explored in scientific studies, especially in the field of psychology. The purpose of this study is to develop the concept of well-mannered interaction in Melayu culture and itsminstrument. The method in this study was literature review and,expert interviews to find the right concept and analysis of the content,validity test and construct validity test with exploratory factor analysis on the measuring instruments that have been developed. The results of the literature review and expert interviews obtained 7 characteristics of well-mannered interaction which were then developed into 82 items. The results of the validity and reliability analysis found 24 valid items with a range of Aiken's V values (0.833-1) and Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient reliability of 0.836. There are five factors in the concept of well-mannered interaction ,that are named with public self-awareness, wisdom, moral-ethical self, self-knowledge, and sincerity.
