Abstract

Final Disposal Site (TPA) Waste is where waste has reached the last stage of its management since it began to arise at source, collection, transportation, processing and disposal. Referring to Law No. 18 of 2008 on Waste Management, it is mentioned that Waste Management is a systematic, comprehensive and continuous activity which includes waste reduction and handling and aims to improve public health and environmental quality and make waste as a resource, end of waste processing to process and return the waste to environmental media safely for humans and the environment. The purpose is to analyze and explain the waste management system in Mekar Sari Final Disposal Site (TPA) by Dumai City Environmental Office and its obstacles. The method used is descriptive, qualitative and quantitative method; A sample of 56 people consisting of Head, garbage management officer and community of Dumai City. Data collection techniques of questionnaires and interviews and data analysis descriptively, qualitatively and quantitatively. This research concludes that Waste Management in Mekar Sari's landfill (TPA) by Dumai City Environment Office is quite good. Implementation of garbage treatment system in final landfill has not fully run well due to weak supervision of officers, starting from garbage input to Mekar Sari landfill Dumai city through sanitary landfill process that is with the hoarding process. This process impacts environmental pollution in the form of soil and ground water sources around the landfill area if not managed well in the long term.
