Abstract

Archives have an important role in an office, if the archive is poorly managed, it can lead to difficulties in finding information that has been stored and can eventually hamper the next stage of the work process. Therefore, the archive should be managed using a good and correct archive management system. The problem found by the author in the field of work practice in the Department of Trade, Cooperatives and SMEs in Riau Province is an archive management system that initially has used an electronic system, back to the manual system and employees who still do not carry out their duties in accordance with existing tasks and functions, as a result has used an electronic management system again using a manual system that causes ineffectiveness in managing so many records. The purpose of this study was to find out what the inhibiting factors faced when managing archives in the Department of Trade, Cooperatives and SMEs in Riau Province. The method used in writing this working paper is the method of survey research and facto exposed research methods. Survey research method is a method to get results in the form of opinions from people who interact directly with what is observed, the facto exposé research method is a method that can be done on activities that are being or have been carried out. Suggestions that the author can give is the need for awareness from within the employee in carrying out the main tasks and functions in managing the archive, and the head of the staffing department should pay more attention to the facilities that are still lacking to manage the records to facilitate the work process.
