Abstract

This study aims to determine the coordination of arm muscle strength and hand eye coordination on the ability to serve volleyball in extracurricular students at SMK Negeri 1 Sungai Apiy. This type of research is correlation research. The sample of this research was 12 people who were taken from the total extracurricular students. This study has three variables, namely arm muscle strength, hand eye coordination, and volleyball service ability. Based on the results of the research that has been done Based on the results of calculations on each hypothesis that has been carried out, the first hypothesis shows that there is a contribution of arm muscle strength to upper serving skills of 37.21% with rcount = 0.61 > rtable = 0.576. This shows that the strength of the arm muscles possessed by the players will contribute as the energy expended when hitting the served ball. Furthermore, the second hypothesis also shows that there is a contribution of eyehand coordination to the top serve skills at 31.36% with rcount = 0.56 > rtable = 0.532. So based on this research it can be understood that with eye-hand coordination, players can direct the ball that is served. In the third hypothesis the results are obtained which show that both the ability of arm muscle strength and eye-hand coordination simultaneously have not been able to make a significant contribution to the determination of the upper serve in volleyball game with rcount results obtained of 0.16 and smaller than rtable of 0.532. This situation is influenced by the characteristics of students who have not been able to have good upper serve accuracy skills. The level of arm muscle strength in which students tend to have better abilities is supported by their own characteristics which are used to making hand movements, of course the arms have sufficient resistance and strength.
