Abstract

The issue of poor student learning activity at SD IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru served as the inspiration for this study. Students were not doing their homework, actively engaging in class, or solving difficulties, it was discovered. Because of their lack of confidence, many students continue to be passive in the learning process, which makes it so that only the teacher is engaged during class activities. The discussion technique can help teachers overcome the issue of poor student involvement in their lessons. This discussion-based teaching approach is regarded as being extremely effective since it keeps the class lively and entertaining. This study included quantitative research techniques and a correlational methodology. The total population as well as a selection of 75 students were included in the study. Simple linear regression analysis was employed. According to the study's findings, the discussion technique significantly affects how actively students at SD IT Insan Utama 2 Pekanbaru learn. Based on the value (R Square) of 0.989, the discussion approach, which is in the very high category, has a very strong effect on the student learning activity. With a coefficient value (R) of 0.995, it may be concluded that there is a strong correlation between the variables X and Y. This is consistent with the ANOVA sig value of 0.05, or 0.000 0.05, which indicates that Ha is accepted. The results of this study should be able to inspire students to study Islamic Religious Education and pique their interest in engaging in active learning.
