Abstract
In Riau, especially at the secondary school level (both junior and senior high), Indonesian language teachers still need to improve the teaching materials used. Among these weaknesses is the fact that teachers need to be able to approach and introduce local wisdom to their students. Many Indonesian subjects emphasize other cultures, even Western cultures. Indonesian language learning should focus on local understanding, not just systemic knowledge. Narrative texts or folklore can be one of the local cultures or wisdom that can be included in secondary school teaching materials in Riau. Based on this phenomenon, researchers must create narrative text learning materials based on local wisdom for high school students. This research uses development research methods (R&D). Developmental research employing the ADDIE paradigm is what this kind of study entails. The most popular framework in research on instructional design is this paradigm. Analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation are the five phases of the ADDIE model. Research data were collected from respondents using validation sheets from material experts, practitioners, and media experts. According to the study's findings and subsequent debate, high school students can learn to produce narrative texts with very valid standards by using instructional materials developed based on local knowledge. This is evident from the average scores of three expert validators, namely language validators (88%), material validators (89%), and media validators, who scored an average of 88.3%. A valid average percentage of 88.4% was established using data from the three experts.
