Abstract

Reading skills are one of the main aspects taught English language teaching and learning processes. Teaching English reading skills at least two levels: beginning and reading comprehension. Reading is not difficult, but reading requires a lot of consideration. This research aims to find out Students’ Perceptions On Artificial Intelligence Towards Increasing Reading Ability In English Language Education Of FKIP UIR. The method used in this research is qualitative, using questionnaires and interviews. Questionnaires were distributed to 33 second-semester students. There are three indicators of students' perceptions of artificial intelligence, namely. 1. students' knowledge of artificial intelligence. 2. students' willingness to use artificial intelligence. 3. students' concerns about artificial intelligence. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of this study showed that students who answered agreed (61.28%), strongly agreed (14.48%), disagreed (23%), strongly disagreed (2%). From these results, it can be concluded that students' perceptions of artificial intelligence in improving students reading ability in the second semester are good. The results of interviews show that students' perceptions of artificial intelligence are generally good. Students agree that artificial intelligence helps them understand the meaning and helps them how to read some unfamiliar words, although there are also students who disagree that using artificial intelligence is still of little benefit.
