Abstract

This study aims to determine the treatment of body shaming on self-acceptance received by students of the Faculty of Psychology UIR Class of 2017. The method used is quantitative with a simple linear regression analysis technique to answer the hypothesis that has been built with a total sample of 142 students. The results of this study revealed that the body shaming treatment received by the 2017 UIR Psychology Faculty students was classified as moderate with a percentage of 73.23%. Student self-acceptance itself is also classified as moderate with a percentage of answers of 71.83%. There is an effect of body shaming treatment on self-acceptance in students who have excessive body weight. Based on the t-test calculation table, it can be seen that the significance of each variable has a significance value of <0.05. That is, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between body shaming on self-acceptance. Based on the table for calculating the coefficient of determination, it can be interpreted that the value of R Square or R2 is 0.573 or 57.53%. This shows that the percentage contribution of a significant relationship between body shaming and self-acceptance is 54.5%. While the rest is influenced by other variables that are not included in this study.
