Abstract
Development Strategy of Pineapple Farming in Mundam Village, Medang Kampai District, Dumai City, Riau Province, under the guidance of Mr. Heriyanto, SP., M.Si. Pineapple is one of the leading commodities in the Mundam Village because it is supported by its geographical conditions. However, there are many factors that influence the development of this pineapple farming. One of the factors that can influence it is the lack of optimal farming management. This study aims to analyze to: 1) Characteristics of farmers and pineapple farming profiles in Mundam Village, 2) Pineapple farming, 3) development strategy of Pineapple farming. Data analysis was performed using cost and income analysis, SWOT and QSPM. This research was conducted for 6 months started from October 2022-March 2023. The sample was determined by simple random sampling. The data used in this research comes from primary and secondary data. Based on the results of this study indicate that the average age of pineaple farmers in Mundam Village is 43 years old which ranges from 32-56 years old, average of education level is 8 years, business experience is 19 years, family dependents are 5 people and the profile of the land area is 1.93 hectares with total production of 40,098.60 fruit and productivity of 20,740.66 fruit/ha and the land is privately owned and leased. From the results of farming analysis, the total costs incurred by pineapple farming are Rp. 28,819,119.52/ha/year, the total production is 40,098.60 fruit with a selling price of Rp. 2,136.63/ fruit, so that a gross income of Rp. 85,675,933.33/ha/year, net income of Rp.56,856,813.81/ha/year and business efficiency of 2.97.The results of the strategy analysis used SWOT by take the internal and external factors, the pineapple farming are determined to Quadrant I, there are 13 alternative strategies are obtained that can be used to develop a pineapple farming in the Mundam Village, through QSPM analysis it is known that 3 dominant factors could develop pineapple farming that are : learn a appropriate maintenance SOP and carrying out farming activities with remote sensing of weather changes based on a certain time; Establish cooperation with the processing industry so that pineapples can be marketed entirely; and Increasing production by utilizing available land because there is market certainty due to the existence of collectors and processing industries.
