Abstract
Education is a process that helps children in various aspects of their lives. Ki Hajar Dewantara explained that education is an effort to develop the character, spirit and youth of the group. Education helps teenagers achieve perfection in life and become individuals who are beneficial to their environment. Reading difficulty is a condition where students experience obstacles in recognizing words or sentences and understanding the content of the reading. This is a major problem in the world of education, and requires the right solution to help students reach their potential. Reading is one of the basic language skills and an important part of written communication. Reading comprehension is the process of understanding reading content, both written and unwritten. The purpose of this research is to describe students' reading comprehension difficulties and the factors that cause students' reading comprehension difficulties. The method used is qualitative to analyze data using a case study approach, with data collection techniques of interviews with class V teachers, tests and interviews with class V students.
