Abstract

ABSTRACT AN IMPLEMENTATION OF RECITATION METHOD TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS IN LEARNING ISLAMIC STUDIES AT DAREL HIKMAH VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF PEKANBARU BY: WARDAH HIDAYAH SAADAH 192410051 Recitation method is a method to improve critical thinking skills. From the observation, it can be seen that the critical thinking skills of students are still low, especially at Darel Hikmah Vocational School of Pekanbaru City with the signs of low critical thinking skills such as: the students are unable to identify conclusions, the students are unable to identify irrelevance and relevance, the students are unable to find differences, and the students are unable to interpret what was observed. The problem formulation of the the study is whether the implementation of recitation method can improve students’ critical thinking skills in learning Islamic Studies at Darel Hikmah Vocational School of Pekanbaru City?. The aim of the study is to investigate the improvement of critical thinking skills by implementing the recitation method in class X Multimedia of Darel Hikmah Vocational School of Pekanbaru City. The type of the study is classroom action research (CAR) and the data are used to measure the students’ critical thinking skills. The data are analyzed based on the percentage of student test results by using descriptive statistics. The results of the study show that that before implementing the recitation method in the pre-cycle, the students’ critical thinking skills were categorized as very low (37%). After implementing the recitation method in the cycle 1, the students’ critical thinking skills increased to (79%) with a sufficient category. In the cycle 2, the students' critical thinking skills increased to (90%) with a very high category. So it can be concluded that the implementation of recitation method can improve students’ critical thinking skills in learning Islamic Studies at Darel Hikmah Vocational School of Pekanbaru City.
