Abstract
Adjusting the composition of the cement slurry with the needed additives is one of the keys to successful drilling. A good cement slurry must make several parameters such as filtrarion loss and compressive strength that match the target. Filtration loss or loss of liquid phase of cement slurry can affect the value of cement strength or compressive strength. Fluid loss control additives that are often used in drilling is carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). In this study, additive that will be used are CMC and alternative from sago starch (Metroxylon sp) which will be added to the cement slurry as fluid loss control. The effectiveness of sago starch as fluid loss control will be tested through laboratory analysis by determining the parameters of filtration loss and compressive strength. The test used a sample mixtu3re of 350 grams of cement with 161 mL of water that added additives CMC and sago starch with concentrations of 0, 0.2, 0.6, 1, 1.4 and 1.8%, respectively. The best result obtained is the sample added by sago starch with a concentration of 1% was able to reduce the filtrate up to 40 mL, while the best cement strength was the addition of sago starch with a concentration of 1% with compressive strength 3176.13 psi and shearbond strength 531.86 psi.
