Abstract

This research was motivated by students’ low ability in learning mathematics due to student’s difficulty in understanding the concept of learning mathematics due to the lack of learning resources used and supported by factors from the 2013 curriculum which expect students to be more active and creative in the cognitive domain. The purpose of this research is to produce a valid and practical product in the form of student worksheets (LKPD) based on the Open-ended approach on rectangular material. This is a Research and Development (R&D) research conducted at SMPN 1 Bangkinang Kota. The subjects of this study were eighth grade students at SMPN 1 Bangkinang Kota in the 2022/2023 academic year. This study refers to the ADDIE development model, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The research instruments used were validation sheets and student response questionnaires. The LKPD was validated by 3 validators consisting of 2 mathematics lecturers from FKIP UIR and 1 mathematics teacher from SMP N 1 Bangkinang Kota. The questionnaire was administered and responded by all students in class VIII A, which were 32 people. The results revealed that the validation of the LKPD obtained an average value of 3.45 with a very valid category and the results of the practicality test of the student response questionnaire obtained an average of 3.34 with a very practical category. Based on the findings, the produced Open-ended Student Worksheet (LKPD) on rectangular material are valid and practice.
