Abstract

The meat needs of the Indonesian people continue to increase and the Indonesian state has not been able to meet these needs. Coupled with the price of meat in the market continues to soar. To overcome this, the government imports meat from other countries. Meat imports carried out by the government actually have a negative impact on the community and fresh meat business actors in Pekanbaru City. This study aims to find out the distribution flow of imported meat in the city of Pekanbaru and find out the problem of the existence of imported meat for fresh meat business actors in the city of Pekanbaru and find out how the government's efforts in addressing these problems. The analytical method used in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis method. The analytical tools used are interviews and questionnaires. The results of the study explain that the distribution flow of imported meat is carried out by the central government BULOG after that it is distributed to each region in Indonesia, either through the regional BULOG or private entrepreneurs. The existence of imported meat in the city of Pekanbaru has caused several problems, including not achieving the government's goal so that everyone can enjoy cheap meat and causing unfair business competition for fresh meat business actors who have been in business for a long time. In response to this, the local government has attempted to conduct surveillance and field visits to ensure that the meat needs of the people of Pekanbaru City are met and provide protection for consumers and fresh meat business actors from irresponsible elements.
