Abstract

This study is motivated by the existence of some students who have low achievement. There are still some students whose grades are still right at the score of minimum completeness criteria and there are still some students who are not interactive in learning so that they are passive in the learning process. This study is very important because it aims to explain what efforts are made by Islamic Studies teachers in improving student achievement at SMAN 12 Pekanbaru. This is a case study with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques of the study are interviews and documentation. The data process and analysis of the study must provide raw data in the form of transcripts, field notes, views of the researcher, and provide data for analysis. The results of the study show that the Islamic Studies teachers at SMAN 12 Pekanbaru have succeeded in performing as educators, counselors, motivators, and evaluators in every attempt that has been made to improve student achievement at SMAN 12 Pekanbaru. In improving learning achievement at SMAN 12 Pekanbaru, the teachers use learning media to make the students more easily understand both visual, audio, audio-visual and various media so that the students become more enthusiastic. The following effort is through learning methods to improve students? learning achievement so that the students are not bored in participating in learning. While the last effort is to carry out an evaluation technique that has the principle is fair, sustainable, overall, practical, sincere, recorded and accurate.
