Abstract
This study aims to determine the difficulty of early reading in grade II students of SDN 019 Logas, Kuantan Singingi Regency, and how to overcome these problems. The research method is qualitative with the type of case study. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. This study was used to test the validity of the data using triangulation. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study found that in class II SDN 019 Logas, there were still students who had difficulty reading the beginning; students showed problems in mentioning and showing letters b and d, difficulties in reading words with affixes, and difficulties in reading simple sentences. The teacher's efforts in overcoming the problem of early reading are by providing additional lessons for students who cannot read and special reading exercises outside learning hours. The findings of this study can be the basis for alleviating the problem of reading difficulties in lower-grade students in elementary schools.
