Abstract
Currently the era of the free market is getting closer, we consume a lot of food that comes from imports. Most of the halal issues are questioned and still need serious supervision from both the government and the community, especially consumers who are Muslim. In this case, consumer protection for products on the market is the duty of the government and society to avoid consuming non-halal food. Therefore, the regulations governing the inclusion of halal-labeled food products must really be implemented so that no more consumers feel disadvantaged. The problems in this research are first, how is the legal protection for consumers on Lindt chocolate products that are not labeled halal (study at the Tourism Market, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City). Second, what are the obstacles in legal protection for consumers on Lindt chocolate products that are not labeled halal (study at the Tourism Market, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City). The research method that the author uses is a type of empirical sociological research method, namely the type of research carried out by non-doctrinal or survey methods where surveys are carried out directly in the field. The nature of this research is descriptive qualitative, then the data used using primary and secondary data. In drawing conclusions, the writer uses inductive thinking method, which is a general statement into a statement or a blunt statement that is specific. Regarding the results of the research and discussion that the authors found: first, legal protection for consumers on Lindt chocolate products that are not labeled halal at the Tourism Market, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City has not been implemented properly, where there is a huge number of foods without halal labels circulating that do not meet several aspects of the label. Halal and registration by BPOM and LPPOM MUI due to lack of awareness of business actors and lack of supervision. Second, obstacles in legal protection for consumers on Lindt chocolate products that are not labeled halal at the Tourism Market, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City, include the lack of consumer awareness of their rights and obligations in consuming, obtaining information, business actors taking food for granted from food distributors without labels. halal and some consumer requests for food without labels that are not yet clear by BPOM and MUI.
