Abstract

The growth of technology and information helps humans to access quickly through the internet. The internet is growing rapidly an can be accessed through various media that make it easier for students to access it. By continuously accessing the internet will lead to internet addiction behavior. The study aims to determine the effect of self-control on internet addiction behavior in psychology students at the Islamic University of Riau. The research method used is quantitative with the sampling technique in this study using purposive sampling with 154 subjects. Data collection used in the form of a questuonnaire using a self-control scale and internet addiction scale. The data analysis method used is simple linear regression. The results of statistical analysis show that there is a significant influence between selfcontrol on internet addiction behavior because it shows a value of a Sig. 0,000 < 0,05 and a positive regression coefficient value of 0,386. It can be stated that self-control has a positive influence in internet addiction, the higher the value of self-control, the behavior of internet addiction will decrease.
