Abstract

Development of Bengkalis traditional zaoin dance to zapin dance is created based on the elements contained in dance. The elements contained in dance are Motion, Music, Floor Design, Dynamics, Costumes and Makeup, Themes, Lighting. This development is based on the idea of a choreographer who can make changes in the Bengkalis traditional zapin dance to zapin dance, creations, but does not change the form of the tradition. The aim of the zapin dance in the bengkalis tradition to zapin dance is the creation of this essay for the China Expo show in 2017, and for entertainment. The theory used by Suwandono's theory (1984: 39) that Development in the sense of management is based on traditional elements given new breath according to the level of development of the time, without reducing / eliminating traditional values. Sources and types of data used are primary data and secondary data where primary data is data obtained directly through observation, interviews, documentation of secondary data is data obtained indirectly as the results of other people's research from books about culture and development, documentation and personal records that are related to the object of research. The method used is descriptive method using qualitative data that uses data collection techniques by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research, namely the development of Bengkalis traditional zapin dance to zapin dance, the creation of cik esah was only as a dance to entertain the king and now it has become entertainment for the wider community. The results of the development of the Bengkalis tradition dance to the zapin dance are the results of the work in a new form but do not eliminate the traditional values in the dance.
