Abstract

Consumptive behavior is an interesting phenomenon to study because consumptive behavior is also widely applied in the lives of teenagers in urban areas. In fact, teenagers do not yet have the financial ability to meet their own needs. We can see this phenomenon of consumptive behavior in teenagers, for example, motorcycle ownership. The importance of self-control in modifying the motor so that consumptive behavior does not occur. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior among members of the motorcycle club community in the city of Pekanbaru. The subjects of this study amounted to 127 members of one of the motorcycle club communities in Pekanbaru, namely "SPEED is PEACE" taken by purposive sampling technique. The analysis technique used is quantitative data analysis.This research data collection uses two scales, namely the self-control scale and the consumptive behavior scale. This study shows that there is a negative relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior. This means that the higher the self-control, the lower the consumptive behavior, on the contrary, the lower the self-control, the higher the consumptive behavior.
