Abstract

Riau is a lowland area, generally there is a lot of surface water or peat water. Peat water is surface water that is commonly found in peatland or lowland areas, which contains high levels of iron, organic substances, and is acidic, so it needs special treatment. To overcome the problems above, it is necessary to try to get a clean water source by treating water by distillation using a tool called a wick solar still type solar distiller with the addition of a reflector. This study aims to determine the effect of the type of reflector material on the performance of the solar detailator. Then to get the type of reflector material that has the best solar distillator performance. This tool functions as a peat water converter into clean, ready-to-use water. By evaporating peat water by utilizing solar thermal energy. In this test, a mirror reflector, aluminum foil and aluminum plate are used. The type of reflector material has an influence on the performance of the solar distillator type wick solar still where, for the type of mirror material that has better performance than the type of aluminum foil material and the type of aluminum foil material has a better performance than aluminum plate. The wick silar still type solar distillator that has the best performance is found in the type of mirror reflector material, where the largest evaporation energy rate is 28.38 watts, the highest condensation energy rate is 28.38 watts, the largest distillation rate is 0.0000199 kg/s, product efficiency the largest is 8.2%, and the efficiency of the distillation system is 10.6%.
