Abstract

This research was motivated by students’ moral and character problems that happened at junior high school 5 Tambusai, where some students’ were not give attention in teaching and learning process. School had made regulation to wear clothes, but some students broke the regulation. In every Monday, school conducted flag ceremony, some students’ did not follow the ceremony. The purpose in this research examined to know the influence of exemplary advice on building students’ good character at junior high school 5 Tambusai Rokan Hulu regency. This research used quantitative with correlational approach. The population took 41 students with sampling all students. Data collection technique used questionnaire, interview, and documentation. This research consisted of two variables, X (exemplary advice method) and Y (students’ good character). Based on data analysis, it was known that there was any influence of exemplary advice on building students’ good character at junior high school 5 Tambusai, it was known that simple linear regression analysis result in significant score 0.000 and 0.000 was smaller than 0.05, then the hypothesis was accepted. The influence score of exemplary advice in 0.578 or 57.8% was in strong enough category, because it was in range 0.40 – 0.599 that was stated in correlation coefficient interpretation table. Meanwhile others 42.2% was influenced by others factors. It meant that hypothesis was accepted. The relationship between exemplary advice method on building character building at junior high school 5 Tambusai Rokan Hulu regency was in “strong”.
