Abstract
This study is motivated by the efforts of Islamic Studies teachers to improve the quality of Islamic Studies learning at SMA IT Fadhilah Pekanbaru. This study is very important because it aims to investigate the efforts made by Islamic Studies teachers to improve the quality of Islamic Studies learning. To produce qualified graduates, it is necessary to improve the quality of learning by the teachers. In addition, the reseacher found several signs of the problems, namely: some students lack of the motivation to excel in the learning process, some students are less active and lack confidence. The problem formulation of the study is what the efforts made by the Islamic Studies teachers in improving the quality of Islamic Studies learning at SMA IT Fadhilah Pekanbaru. The study aims to investigate the efforts of Islamic Studies teachers in improving the quality of Islamic Studies learning at SMA IT Fadhilah Pekanbaru. The type of the study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques of the study are interviews and documentation. After the data are obtained, then the data are processed and analyzed through data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The results of this study are: First, the Islamic Studies teachers apply the STAD (Student Team Achievement Divisions) model to improve the quality of learning. Second, the Islamic Studies teachers convey learning objectives and motivate students. Third, the teachers divide the students into groups to implement the STAD learning model. Fourth, the teachers give evaluation quizzes to students to measure the level of students’ understandings. Fifth, the teachers give awards to students or teams who excel in the learning. Sixth, the teachers prepare additional media in the learning process. In addition, there are other efforts made by the Islamic Studies teachers, namely: First, Islamic Studies teachers try to involve students in making learning videos to develop students’ competence in using IT. Second, Islamic Studies teachers seek to create a generation that knows the Quran and hadith by providing memorization that must be submitted as an evaluation.
