Abstract

Sago is an alternative staple food instead of rice, this can become a staple food in Indonesia if the country lacks national rice stocks. Meranti Islands Regency is the best sago-producing district in the world and the largest producer of sago after Papua, Tebing Tinggi Timur sub-district is the sub-district with the highest number of sago mills. after Tebing Tinggi Barat District, namely 13 sago refineries. Being a sago-producing area, of course, the problem of processed waste cannot be separated from that, of course this problem must be monitored by the Regional Government through the Environmental Service in the Meranti Islands Regency. Because there are still many sago mills that do not have permits and throw the sago waste products directly into the river. This has resulted in the contamination of rivers around the sago refinery in East Tebing Tinggi District. From this condition, the writer wants to see the supervision of the Environmental Service in the East Tebing Tinggi District in the Meranti Islands Regency on the disposal of sago waste. From the problems above, the writer can formulate the formulation of the problem in this research, namely How is the Supervision of the Environmental Service in the East Tebing Tinggi District in the Meranti Islands Regency against the Disposal of Sago Waste. The type of research used in this study is descriptive, by means of questionnaires, interviews and observations to collect data. The population and samples in this study are the Head of the Meranti Islands Regency Environmental Service and the Head of Pollution and Environmental Damage, the owner of the sago refinery and the community. The indicators that measure the Environmental Service Monitoring Analysis on sago waste, the author uses the theory of George R. Terry where there are three indicators, namely: 1) Setting Standards 2) Implementation Measures 3) Making Improvements. As for the results of this Questionnaire, the assessment is Doubtful. The thing that needs to be improved is that the Meranti Islands Regency Government is expected to increase the budget for the Meranti Islands Environmental Service, especially the budget in the field of supervision.
