Abstract

The large number of requests for delivery of goods from people who want to send goods from one place to another makes courier services very much needed. Protection of consumer rights both from senders and recipients as users of expedition services in Indonesia has been regulated for a long time. Seeing the behavior of these people, it is necessary to protect consumers who use goods delivery services, so that consumers get security and comfort when sending or receiving goods so they don't experience damage. The main problem in this study is how to implement appropriate consumer protection according to Law Number 8 of 1999 (Case study of PT.TIKI Pekanbaru branch), and what are the inhibiting factors for business actors in implementing consumer protection (Case study of PT.TIKI Pekanbaru branch) . The method used in this research is empirical or sociological legal research, with observational research, namely by surveying or observing directly to the research location using data collection tools. From the results of this research at TIKI Pekanbaru branch it is known that the implementation of consumer protection according to Law Number 8 of 1999 (Case study of PT. TIKI Pekanbaru branch) has not been optimally implemented, because the TIKI Pekanbaru branch admits that it is responsible for the safety of goods and security of goods. TIKI Pekanbaru branch sees that the goods suffer losses due to delays, damage and loss in delivery, so it is the responsibility of the carrier. What are the inhibiting factors in the implementation of TIKI Pekanbaru branch consumer protection, the lack of communication from the sender, force majeure, and the negligence of shipping and delivery officers.
