Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the interaction of POMI fertilizer and oil palm shoot ash on the growth and production of tomato plants. It was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru City, for five months from June to October 2021. This study used a Randomized Design Complete Factorial (RAL). consisting of two factors and 3 repetitions. The first factor was the concentration of POMI (P) fertilizer which consisted of 4 levels namely 0, 5, 10 and 15 ml per liter of water and the second factor was the dose of oil palm coconut ash consisting of 4 levels namely 0.72; 1.44 and 2.16 kg per plot. Parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, harvesting age, number of fruit per plant, fruit weight per plant, fruit weight per fruit and amount of fruit left over. The data were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ test at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction effect of POMI fertilizer treatment and oil palm shoot ash was significant on plant height, flowering age, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant and fruit weight per fruit. The best treatment was found in a combination of POMI fertilizer 15 ml/l water and palm ashes at a dose of 2.16 kg/plot. The main effect of POMI fertilizer was real on all observation parameters, the best treatment was at a concentration of 15 ml/l water. The main effect of oil palm shoots ash is significant on all observation parameters. The best treatment at a dose of 2.16 kg/plot.
