Abstract

Panel discussion method (X) was a group consisted of three to six expert that was showed to present their perspective from various aspects about a problem. Communication skill (Y) was an activity that was done in spoken or written and a changing information and sharing experience between someone to others in developing their mindset. The relationship between panel discussion method and communication skill was an important factor that should be had by students. The purpose in this research examined to know the influence of panel discussion method on students’ communication skill in Islamic education lesson at junior high school 10 Rupat sub district. This research was quantitative with correlational approach. The population in this research took 173 students with sampling 115 students. Data collection technique used questionnaire and documentation. Data analysis used SPSS V 20 application, the research finding showed that the hypothesis about the influence of panel discussion method on communication skill was accepted in significant score 0.000. The influence could be categorized in strong enough (0.466 or 46.6%). Meanwhile others 53.4% was influenced by others factors. The relationship level between panel discussion method and communication skill in 0.683 or 68.3%, it meant that there was any strong relationship between panel discussion method on students’ communication skill in Islamic education lesson at junior high school 10 Rupat sub district Bengkalis regency.
