Abstract

Among teenagers, often found various forms of deviant behavior. Deviant behavior is a result of an imperfect socialization process, and adolescents are the most vulnerable group to commit such deviant behavior. The misuse of sanitary napkins (softex) is a problem that is very troubling to the community, especially for the younger generation, especially those in Ladang Laweh Village, Padang Panjang, West Sumatra. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results of this study are that in Ladang Laweh Village, cases of teenagers who get drunk using boiled water from sanitary napkins are often found, usually when there is an organ or entertainment event in the village. Abuse of sanitary napkins is done by boiling the pads with boiling water, then drinking the boiled water with the aim of getting a drunken sensation. Referring to the theory of social control, this theory directly explains why the behavior of abusing sanitary napkins can occur, it is due to the loss of one or more elements in the individual. The conclusion of this study is that adolescent behavior occurs because there are elements missing from the teenager's self, either attachment, commitment, involvement or belief. This social control theory can explain why the abuse of sanitary napkins by teenagers can occur.
