Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the teacher's role in increasing the creativity of students learning Cultural Arts (Malay Creative Dance) in class XI of SMAN 10 Pekanbaru. The study took the location of SMAN 10 Pekanbaru. The subject of the research was a teacher of Cultural Arts at SMAN 10 Pekanbaru as many as 1 teacher, and class XI students which consisted of 18 students. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive qualitative, where data and information obtained from the field describe the role of the teacher in increasing student creativity in learning Cultural Arts (Malay Creative Dance) which was carried out in 4 meetings. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Based on the results of the study, there is still a category that is not yet creative in teaching Malay creations of dance. Based on the results of the data, the teacher's role applied to dance learning at SMAN 10 Pekanbaru class XI is less supportive in developing children's creativity because children only imitate the original dance they will create and there are few opportunities for children to express and be creative. Dr. Rusman, Mpd (2016:73) as for some of the teacher's roles as follows. Demonstrators, class managers, mediators, facilitators, and evaluators.
