Abstract

Exploitation of children is an act of coercion against children who are still underage to seek money both physically and by actions taken by families and parents, this can be seen from the increase in cases of exploitation of children in the Padang Police Legal Area, where the role of the city resort police agency should be. Padang as a protector for children who are still underage to get a decent life. The main problems in this study are the factors causing the crime of child exploitation, knowing the police's efforts in tackling the crime of child exploitation that is rife in the jurisdiction of the Padang Police. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach using analytical descriptive methods and data collection techniques with interviews, observations and document review, to collect primary and secondary data obtained from respondents with interview techniques to be used as data or information as material in writing this research. Based on the results of the study, it can be understood that there are several obstacles that occur in overcoming the crime of child exploitation in the jurisdiction of the Padang Police. One way that can be done in tackling the crime of child exploitation is by opening up employment opportunities for people who have a low economy and affirming the rules on child exploitation crimes committed intentionally or not, then finding out the factors that cause exploitation to occur which in practice is a a criminal act that is committed consciously for the benefit of oneself or others and what efforts must be made by the authorities to tackle the crime of child exploitation.
